Each week covers a different topic to help you better manage or prevent diabetes:
Week 1: Diabetes Basics (First Tuesday of the month)
Week 2: Nutrition Made Simple
Week 3: Medications & Exercise
Week 4: Reducing Risk

Nurse Extern Program
NHS offers a Nurse Extern program for nursing students who have completed their 2nd semester of nursing school. This program introduces students to the rural healthcare setting, allows students to experience hands-on practice with nursing interventions and teaches students how to document assessments under the supervision and guidance of a nurse preceptor. ​

AHEC Scholars Program
NHS is home to the NE AHEC Scholars. This is a grant funded program for health professions students interested in supplementing their education. This program is designed to increase the number of skilled and culturally competent health professions students in rural and underserved areas. AHEC Scholars will practice interprofessional collaboration to join a well-prepared, diverse, and culturally competent primary care workforce demonstrating ream-based care to improve patient outcomes.
